Wiki – General

In general, I think wikis are great for a controlled group, but when you open it up to the general public, you run the risk of vandalism. Also, I’m not quite sure what the value is of having a library wiki for the public, as there are much better ways to get information out.

Looked at SJCPL Subject Guides. I can see where this would be valuable as a staff resource, ala “tickler file,” to organize reliable resources for those frequently asked homework and general questions.

Viewed the ALA 2008 Anaheim, CA wiki. Good way of putting all the information in one place. One suggestion would be to alternate the font color for each entry, as it all kind of runs together, even with the black dividers.
